Comas, and those experiencing them have fascinated me since day one. Thoughts about what goes on in someone's mind when they're simply cut loose from the world and can only observe. "Dredge Portals" tackles this with ambition. From the cynical, weary monologues of the narrator, to the echoing EKG that punctuates the beginning, the album starts off strong. As the drones fade, melancholy textures and pianos snuff out the flame. A real masterpiece - expect sadness and dread.
Favorite track: Perpetually Devoured.

The protagonist wrestles with charred demons, both inner and outer creating a surreal backdrop.
The attention to detail and how the vocals tie the story together is fascinating. The instrumentation isn't just music here, neither the field recordings. You can smell the sterile hospital environment of a man in a coma. The beeps of hospital machines. Feel the dread of a world moving in slow motion around him. A bead of sweat rolling down your paralyzed head.
