CyhAnide There's a touch of uncanny jaunt in Clown is Dead, and night terrors in She Was In a Dream (this one actually gives me shivers of dread near the end). All in all, Lost in Fog feels like...you've gone to an abandoned amusement park, creaking and ruined, and then a mist rolls in and starts changing things without your knowledge. It's spooky and sad, with a bit of noir jazz to pierce the fog. Very much Phonothek's sound, indeed. Favorite track: Clown is Dead.

Rindenberg Fog never was so vivid, seething, teeming with life. The darkness here will disturb you, confuse you, embrace you and comfort you. Sounds come from a distance, never to be heard again, while a strong feeling of insecurity, dread, melancholy and inner peace will stick to you long after the experience. A highlight is the carefully employed trumpet / trombone (?), which connects this album directly to the equally atmospheric masterpieces of The Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corporation. Favorite track: Dancing with the Ghost.

This Is Darkness Like in a David Lynch film, repeated play-throughs bring out little bits and pieces of the puzzle, suggesting a narrative, but never overtly illustrating it. This gives me reason to go back to the album again and again, not merely to hear the tunes, but to test theories that came to mind in previous play-throughs.

Echoing muted trumpets sing songs of times past on chilly nights. Acoustic layering create dark geometric imagery for your third eye. Haunted voices pulls you into a sea of vinyl crackles turned reverberating drone. The scent of wax candles fill the room as warm sounds contrast the cold.
